It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
